Team India has gone through some major changes in recent years. Men in Blue have become much stronger and that in turn has created a huge talent pool for the senior team. This big change has come after displaying good performances in every competition in international cricket and approaching the game aggressively.
After a thrilling season of IPL, Team India will be now preparing themselves for the upcoming ODI World Cup. It has been 12 years cine India lifted the last World Cup in 2011 under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

1) 1983 World Cup
The win in the final game of the 1983 World Cup changed the whole future of Indian cricket. Kapil Dev lifting the trophy inspired the whole generation of Indian cricket and gave us some of the best players in international cricket. Batting first, team India was all out at a score of 183 runs and now the pressure was on the bowling department. Madan Lal and Mohinder Amarnath picked up 3 wickets each and guided team India to lift their first World Cup trophy. The result was proof of the pure dedication and perseverance of the squad.
2) Adelaide Oval – 2003
Team India has always struggled on the foreign pitch when it comes to Test cricket. Before the beginning of the 2000s, team India always came out as a weaker team on foreign grounds. However, India scored one of their greatest victories in Australia against the hosts at Adelaide Oval in 2003. The positive result was the pure hard work of Rahul Dravid and his calm and composed style of batting. In the first inning, Dravid scored 233 in 446 balls partnering with VVS Laxman who scored 148 runs in 282 balls. The duo recorded one of the most historical partnerships from India’s side.
3) 2007 T20 World Cup Final
During the beginning of the 2000s, Team India was going through some big changes in the management and the squad. The era can be called a transformational decade. The result of these changes was seen in the first edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007 where team India defeated Pakistan in the final game under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. The game showed India a new leader who eventually became the face of Indian cricket for the next decade and took the team to new heights.
4) 2011 World Cup
In 2011, Team India lifted the ODI World Cup after 28 years of drought. The final fixture took place between India and Sri Lanka and Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni took the responsibility upon their shoulders to make sure the trophy comes home. The epic moment of MS Dhoni hitting the six became a historical moment in Indian cricket. Gambhir scoring 97 runs in the match was one of the biggest moments of the match and MS Dhoni playing a match-winning innings of 91 runs was a moment to cherish.
5) Natwest Series 2002
The leadership of Saurav Ganguly was one of the primary reasons for the new beginning of cricket in India. His aggression took the Indian squad to new heights and scoring a series win at the Lord’s in the 2002 Natwest Series was one of the biggest moments for Indian cricket. Mohammed Kaif and Yuvraj Singh partnered in the middle order to score the winning run. However, the best moment of the match was Saurav Ganguly taking off his shirt and expressing his emotions after the win.
