2) VVS Laxman – 135

Laxman primarily played as a middle-order batsman and was known for his ability to rescue the team from difficult situations. However, Laxman’s primary contribution was developing a string middle-order in the Test format.

His elegant style of batting matched with an ability to perform in high-pressure situations made him the most dependable batsman for team India in the red-ball format. Very few are aware that Laxman was one of the best fielders in India and he has picked up 135 catches in his Test career.

3) Sachin Tendulkar – 115

5) Sunil Gavaskar – 108

Some players inspire the upcoming generation and then some players revolutionize the sport. Sunil Gavaskar comes from the latter category where he took Indian cricket to a completely different level and helped team India to achieve success in the early stages.

Gavaskar comes fifth on the list as he has picked up 108 catches in his entire Test cricket. Suni Gavaskar is still considered one of the greatest batsmen of his generation.
