Rohit Sharma’s Favoured Trio: Backed Indian Cricketers

Rohit Sharma is regarded as one of the most talented and accomplished cricketers in the world. His greatest success has come in limited-overs cricket. 

He has been a crucial part of India’s success in ICC tournaments and bilateral series and because of his consecutive performance in international cricket, Rohit Sharma was allowed to lead the team in 2022 after Virat Kohli left Test captaincy and was asked to leave the T20 and ODI captaincy.

Rohit has had significant success as a captain in limited-overs cricket. Under his leadership, India has won important bilateral ODI and T20I series. He has displayed tactical acumen and a calm demeanour as a captain, making astute decisions during matches.

1) Ishan Kishan

Ishan got the benefit of Rishabh’s absence in Team India and he has now become a crucial member of Team India in all the formats of the game. There is no doubt that Ishan is a talented youngster but Kishan has been inconsistent at times, and he has had some periods of poor form in his career. Rohit’s support has been important for Kishan, who has admitted that he sometimes feels the pressure of playing for India. 

However, Rohit’s words of encouragement have helped Kishan to stay calm and focused, and he has performed well in recent matches. Compared to the past, Ishan has got multiple opportunities to prove his worth to the team and that was made possible because of skipper Rohit Sharma and his confidence in the young talent.

2) Shubman Gill

Rohit Sharma has been a great supporter of Shubman Gill since the young batsman made his international debut in 2019. He has praised Gill’s talent and potential, and he has given him a lot of confidence. In an interview with the ICC, Rohit said that he believes Gill is “the next big thing in Indian cricket”. 

He said that Gill has “got everything required to get success at this level”. During the ongoing tour of West Indies, Shubman Gill has been a major flop and he has failed to score for the team. However, skipper Rohit Sharma has backed Gill in every match.

3) Suryakumar Yadav

Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav are teammates from Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Even before Surya made his debut for Team India, Rohit showed support for the player and his talent. 

Surya is an important player when it comes to ODI and T20 format but the year 2023 has not seen a positive side of the player and Surya has also failed to score against strong teams like Australia, England, New Zealand, and even Pakistan. Even after constantly failing to handle the pressure, Surya is getting constant support from Rohit Sharma.
