Despite Kolkata Knight Riders’ challenges in making a significant impact in IPL 2023, Rinku Singh has emerged as one of the most influential players in the ongoing tournament. His consistent performances have silenced his critics and garnered the attention of the Indian national team’s selection committee. In this article, we will delve into the intriguing journey of Rinku Singh and explore his deep connection with cricket as both a sport and a way of life.

Rinku Singh starting life journey

India is a land culture and the country has the highest population of middle-class individuals who believe in working for the dream of others and living comfortably. This is where Rinku Singh was born and he was the third child among the five siblings. His childhood was surrounded by failed dreams and poverty which made a huge impact on his upbringing. At a very early stage, Rinku Singh identified his dream of playing the sport and started his journey to make it big in a country where every other kid of his age dreamt of being a world-class cricketer.

Domestic Cricket Journey

It is very easy to have talent but what is hard is to develop that talent, nurture it and showcase it at the right time. Rinku Singh had a tough childhood but his talent of being an allrounder cricketer was noticed by the Uttar Pradesh team and at a very stage, Rinku Singh started representing in the Under -16 competitions.

Coming across some of the best young players in the country, Rinku Singh learned that it is not going to be an easy road but more than that, what Rinku learned is to play the game for the love of it without any pressure.

Rinku also represented Uttar Pradesh in Under-19 domestic cricket. However, his big day came in 2014 when Rinku, at the age of 16, scored 83 runs in first-class cricket. After two years, Rinku got his opportunity to play for the Uttar Pradesh team in Ranji Trophy. He was the leading run-scorer for Uttar Pradesh in the group stage of the 2018–19 Ranji Trophy, with 803 runs in nine matches.

Entry into the Indian Premier League

Considering his skills at the Ranji Trophy, Rinku Singh was bought by Kings XI Punjab for IPL 2017. However, because of very less playtime, Rinku was unable to display his talent. In 2018 auctions, Rinku was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for a contract of 80 Lakhs. For the majority of the time, he was used as a net player and hence the impact was still missing

Ban From BCCI to Comeback in IPL

In 2019, Rinku Singh was banned for three months by the BCCI as he took part in the Ramadan T20 cricket which was going on in Abu Dhabi. Without the knowledge of BCCI, Rinku signed the contract and that was against the terms and conditions of the Indian cricket board.

In 2022 auctions, Rinku was again bought by Kolkata Knight Riders and the deal turned out to be a gold mine. He played a crucial role in the team’s success in 2022. However, his real talent is displayed in IPL 2023. He displayed a ferocious performance against Gujarat Titans by hitting 5 sixes in the last over to score a win for his team. Rinku’s inning made headlines and he is now the new talk of the town.
