SWOT Analysis of Australian Squad for WTC Final

SWOT Australian Squad for WTC Final _ 1 Jun

Team India and Australia are all set for a final face-off in the WTC final starting on 7th June. India and Australia are both highly competitive cricketing nations, known for their aggressive playing styles. The matches between these two teams are often intense and closely contested, filled with heated moments and fierce competition. The rivalry has also witnessed its fair share of controversies and heated moments. From sledging incidents to on-field altercations, the players from both teams have had intense exchanges.

Despite the intense rivalry, there is also mutual respect between the players. Many players from both teams have spoken highly of each other’s skills and performances. Off the field, they often share friendly relationships, playing together in various franchise-based T20 leagues.

In this article, we have done a detailed SWOT analysis of the Australian squad.

WTC Final: Aussies Strength

In every format of cricket, the Australian squad has come out on the field with the strongest players in the world. However, the squad which has been announced by Cricket Australia has much better players in the pace attack. Pat Cummins is coming back after a break and he will be focused to lead the team and maintain his pace attack to dominate the Indian batters. To partner him, Mitchell Starc will be there as his right-hand man. Starc took a break from IPL and other T20 cricket leagues to just make sure that he can focus on international cricket.

Starc’s primary weapon is his sheer pace. He generates significant speed and uses his strong action and smooth run-up to generate power in his deliveries. In addition to his pace, Starc is renowned for his ability to swing the ball both ways. He can swing the new ball prodigiously and also extract reverse swing with the old ball, making him a potent threat in different stages of a match.

Weakness

In recent times, the Australian cricket team has witnessed an inconsistency in their opening order. David Warner, Travis Head, and Marnus Labuschagne will be in the opening lineup and the trio has not performed as per the expectations. In the recently held, Border Gavaskar Trophy, only Usman Khwaja was able to provide a solid start to the Australian team. David Warner faced a hairline fracture and had to miss the whole series. He will be making his comeback in the final game of WTC and is expected to be combined with Usman Khwaja in the opening lineup. The duo will have high expectations from the team at the Oval.

Opportunity

One of the biggest opportunities for the Australian team is the presence of Todd Murphy. Murphy has gained a sudden rise through the ranks in the Australian squad with his intelligent spin bowling. He was part of the Australian squad in the recently held Border-Gavaskar trophy and has the experience to play against the Indian batting attack. Another opportunity for Australia is the in-form Cameron Green. Green has become a crucial player for Australia in all the formats and can change the game with his skills to bowl and bat in difficult situations.

Threat

The biggest threat to Australia is the declining form of David Warner in Test cricket. Warner has been struggling to play a solid inning for his team and has failed to give a good start in all the formats of the game. WTC Final will be the real test of Warner’s ability to play long innings and handle the pressure to score runs at different times of the game. Warner missed out on a tour to India in February-March because of a hairline fracture and returned to play IPL. He did show some signs of his comeback in old form but the Test format is a different arena and he might face difficulty to score runs against Indian pacers.
