Harmanpreet Kaur: Bad Example for Young Cricketers?

The Indian women’s cricket team, also known as the “Women in Blue,” has made considerable progress and gained recognition on the global stage. They have participated in various international tournaments, including the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The team always remains in the headlines and has become a prominent part of international cricket.

India have produced some exceptional women cricketers who have become household names in the country. Players like Mithali Raj, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami, and Shafali Verma have been instrumental in raising the profile of women’s cricket in India. However, while on a tour to Bangladesh, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur completely forgot all the integrities and misbehaved on the field in front of the camera.

The rivalry between India and Bangladesh in women’s cricket had been growing steadily, especially in recent years. However, the drama began during the third ODI where at first Harmanpreet Kaur broke the stumps when she was given out by the umpire, and at the end of the match she criticized the umpire during the post-match presentation. 

She was also seen mocking the Bangladesh cricket team and her act was captured by the camera and everyone present at the post-match ceremony.

Harmanpreet is known for her aggressive and powerful batting style. She is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball in women’s cricket and has the ability to change the course of a match with her big-hitting prowess. 

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to Indian cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2017, a prestigious award given by the Government of India to recognize excellence in sports.

She has always been in the media because of her performance and because she is a star player of the country which is known to play the best quality of cricket, Kaur is an inspiration to the younger women cricketers. 

However, her actions in Bangladesh will be a major black spot in her career. She has misbehaved in front of authorities and the media has highlighted the same. Harmanpreet’s act will definitely set the wrong example for the upcoming cricketers.
